History
Santos native José Luiz Tahan began his career as a bookseller almost by chance. In search of his first job, he took his drawing folder and filled out applications at department stores, film rental stores, photography stores and, finally, at Livraria Iporanga, where he would become not only an employee, but also a partner, years later.
In parallel, in the early 2000s, he maintained a bookstore inside a Philosophy faculty, with the door open to the street. The experience gave rise to Realejo Livros, opened in 2003, in the Gonzaga neighborhood, in Santos (SP): a street bookstore with a bar-café, which quickly became a place for meetings, events and cultural effervescence.
Willing to expand his vocation as a content generator, he also created, between 2009 and 2010, Realejo Editora and the international literature festival Tarrafa Literária, which still exist today.
