Paraoil

Impact

ParaOil is a Brazilian company, located in the State of Pará, specializing in the extraction of natural oils and butters based on seeds extracted from the Amazon Rainforest, which supplies products to cosmetics and food companies.
The main purposes are to value the region's natural bioactives and add value and generate income for local communities to strengthen and show the great potential of the culture of traditional peoples, bringing forest products to all Brazilians, and contributing to keeping the forest standing .
Cooperation, respect for the environment and valuing people are the values cultivated at ParaOil.

History

Paraoil was born from the dream of changing the situation in the Acará region, a predominantly agricultural municipality, where small farmers submit to middlemen who take all forest products paying values inconsistent with the potential added value.
The company is made up of descendants of Japanese farmers who migrated from Japan to the region in 1957. Pioneers, they have worked in the Amazon since that time with the agroforestry system, in which living in harmony with nature is a lifestyle.
Gilberto Nobumasa, founder of ParaOil, keeps alive the purpose of his grandfather, who after surviving World War II, found much gratitude in the Amazon and its traditional people.

Who does

Production and collection is carried out by riverside Amazonians, quilombolas and small farmers. Processing is done by ParaOil, which works with the concept of an integrated chain, fair price, ensuring that at least 30% of the income goes to the small farmer.

Products

In addition to taking Amazonian products throughout Brazil, Amazonian oils strengthen the agroextractive chain in the Amazon, generating income and opportunities for local communities, which are the base of the chain.
Adding value consists of transforming the raw materials collected by the Amazonian people into products with greater added value, that is, more elaborate, quality products that meet specific market demands.
This process is essential to ensure that local communities can obtain better economic and social returns for their actions in sustainable extractivism.
Value addition occurs through fair payment for seeds collected from native, standing forests and from agroforestry systems that regenerate degraded areas.
The result is that Amazonian communities have greater economic autonomy, strengthen their cultural identities, protect the environment and, at the same time, preserve the rich natural heritage of the Amazon for future generations.
These initiatives also contribute to the appreciation of traditional knowledge and the promotion of socio-environmental sustainability.
