Amazônia Smart Food

Amazon Smart Food

Impact

Amazônia Smart Food is a foodtech that produces vegetable proteins from forest inputs. It acquires up to 60% of inputs from small rural producers from traditional communities and indigenous peoples of the Amazon, practicing fair trade and operates with reforestation strategies through the implementation of agroforestry systems with already qualified producers. Today there are 25 producing communities, more than 1500 people in the impact network and contributing to the protection of more than 500,000 hectares.

History

Amazônia Smart Food emerged to meet two needs observed by its two founders: developing economic activities in the Amazon with qualification of value chains that, in addition to bringing health to those who consume, provide dignity to those who produce; and the demand for truly healthy and natural plant-based protein foods, without artificial additives such as colors, flavors and preservatives.

Producers

Priscilla Almeida, the CEO, is an Economist with a postgraduate degree in Agriculture and Regional Development with an MBA in Rain Forest Business; Beto Pinto, the chef, graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Institute in Plant Based Diets: Nutrition & Wellness. They work together with a wide network of producers, which currently has 25 traditional Amazon communities and indigenous peoples, in 4 states: Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia and Amapá. Among them: São Francisco do Caribí Community, in the Uatumã Sustainable Development Reserve, Amazonas; ACOSPER in Alter do Chão, Pará; Paiter Suruí Indigenous People in Cacoal, Rondônia; among others.
Inputs are purchased directly from producers and with proven traceability in each batch through the use of Blockchain technology.

Products

Smart Balls are meatballs made from Açaí, the world-famous Amazonian fruit, which is rich in anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants, in addition to having high levels of Iron, Calcium and Phosphorus, and energy.
The Smart Burger is a burger made from Tucumã, another typical fruit from the Amazon biome, which outside the Amazon is still much less known than Açaí, but is also a superfood, rich in vitamins A, B1 and C, Omega 3, 6 and 9, Beta-carotene, high antioxidant power, thermogenic potential and energy.
Smart Sausages sausages are made from smoked Açaí and Tucumã fat.
In addition to all the nutritional benefits of the 2 fruits, the products are protein food alternatives whose production causes a positive socio-environmental impact.
