Aho Express

Aho Express

Impact

Aho Express disseminates indigenous, riverside and cabocla cultures through its art in a socially fair, ecologically correct and economically viable way.

Promoting artisanal production by indigenous peoples means strengthening local economies, generating income for vulnerable communities and villages, making their struggles visible, joining forces and resources for a better quality of life, perpetuation of their cultures and the forest standing!

The brand is part of the ARTESOL Network, which promotes crafts from Brazilian cultural traditions and revitalizes techniques at risk of disappearing, by encouraging the transmission of ancestral knowledge to future generations.

History

Andressa and Bruno's direct contact with indigenous peoples of Acre made it possible to understand their harsh reality regarding access to resources, both financial and infrastructure, their sociopolitical oblivion, in addition to their intimate relationship with the forest and its natural resources.

In 2019, Aho Express was born from the idea of serving as a communication instrument between forest and city, covering and clarifying the gaps that still exist, through the appreciation and dissemination of art and crafts from indigenous peoples, in a consistent and conscious way, respecting their specificities and cultures.

Who does

There are around 80 artisans, from 43 Brazilian and 1 Peruvian ethnicities, who materialize the purity and soul of the forest with wise hands full of stories, loaded with ancestral knowledge and technologies.

These are families who live in the most varied Brazilian biomes, with their riches, resisting environmental adversities and sociopolitical pressures.

In consideration of these diverse realities, Aho promotes and values organic production, with respect not only to its ancestries, but also to its production capabilities and seasonal availability of natural resources.

Strengthening our network not only guarantees the income of several families, but also the perpetuation of their knowledge, the appreciation of their cultures, the resistance and resilience of the people.

Products

Aho Express works with a rich and diverse curation of baskets, ceramics, masks, decorative and utility items such as hammocks, wooden benches, bows, oars, as well as earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
