Reskate
Impact
Rescuing broken shapes around Brazil since 2019, reusing our raw materials. What was previously discarded incorrectly has now become art. The shapes are normally constructed from 7 layers of wood, providing a unique look when replicated and glued side by side.
Because they are broken shapes, each product is unique and uses different parts of each shape in its construction. The fit is polished but never perfect and the same on all products.
A Reeskate 99 product can come from different places and is made up of different shapes, fonts and stories. This is exactly what makes each of them unique. And this is how Reeskate 99 contributes to a better world.
History
Reeskate 99 was founded in 2019 with the aim of promoting a sustainable purpose for skateboard decks that were incorrectly disposed of after use. A pioneer in Brazil, the brand promotes sustainable solutions by recycling skateboards to produce unique handcrafted pieces. Known for being innovative and creative, Reeskate 99 has produced more than 1,500 handmade pieces from around 2,000 reused shapes, including ashtrays, benches, tables, vases, keychains, stands, frames, and many others.
It all started in 2019, when Reeskate's young people left school and went straight to the skate park, every day after class. They had a passion for skateboarding together, but whenever a board broke, the question arose: what to do with it? Because many times the drawing remained intact and was something very beautiful that could be reused. Then, the cousin of one of the group members turned the broken shape into an ashtray in his workshop. Suddenly, they exchanged some skateboarding around the workshop and began to explore their creativity.
Today, in 2023, they have already carried out several collabs with national brands and artists, for example dod alfaiataria and the artist VIRI. They have also had some solo exhibitions, the most recent being at the São Paulo City Hall.
